Four Little Engines' founder, Shelley Johnson, is an MCIM Chartered Marketer with 20 years' experience in roles at heritage cinema Tyneside Cinema and LVEP (Local Visitor Economy Partnership) NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI).


In roles as marketing manager and head of marketing at NGI, Shelley developed her marketing expertise through managing strategy, content and campaigns for the company's B2C and B2B audiences and commercial clients. 


Shelley's marketing highlights include:


  • Working with VisitEngland and campaign sponsors on Have the Tyne of Your Life -  a three-year city breaks campaign which generated £18m in additional visitor expenditure.
  • A year-long collaboration with Hadrian's Wall Partnership developing and delivering the marketing campaign for their Hadrian's Cavalry exhibition and events.
  • Winning a MIMA (Meetings Industry Marketing Awards) award for NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau.
  • Working with video production company Ynot to find and tell the stories of inspirational visitor economy businesses, in Tales from North East England: Travel that Makes a Difference.
